Gayur Ahmed comes from a 400 years old traditional family of wooden carvers of Jaipur. Gayur learnt his art from his father; his grandfather too was a carver. His unique skills brought him the prestigious Certificate of Merit by the Government of India (Ministry of textiles) in 2014. The specialty of the blocks from Jaipur is the depth and intricacy of the carvings, which allows for a cleaner surface and clearer printing.

Gayur ji is not only an exceptional artist but is a very warm and welcoming mentor. He is one of the very few block makers who do the entire process manually; even the tools that he uses are made by him.
