Amit Dhawan- Traditional Craft Inlay Work on Wood

Amit Dhawan belongs to a traditional family who are passing their special skill of inlay work on wood through generations. Now Amit is the 6th generation in his family who is carrying the legacy of his forefathers.

Amit learned this skill from his father, Shilpguru Shri Omkar Dhawan. Amit remembers that he had the liking for inlay work on wood since he was a small boy, and unknowingly he started practising this art under guidance of his father Shri Omkar ji. Now he has experience of around 3 decades and have won UNESCO first prize in Malaysia. Amit proudly says that he learnt this skill from his father and now a day’s his craft inlay work on wood with acrylic and bone is highly appreciated in western countries and in India. Amit has been honoured for the State Award also in the year 2015 for his special art work on wood. These days his products are mainly exported in other countries.
