Ustad Baljit Singh Namdhari never ever wanted to pursue music as his carrier till he finally met Satguru Jagjit Singh ji who noticed his talent and showed him the divine path of music. Till he finally surrendered himself to Classical Music. He was fortunate as Satguru ji himself devoted his precious time to train him everyday.
Baljit Singh was born in a village named Khapar Kheri in Amritsar in an artistic and pious family of Pritam Kaur and Gurbachan Singh. All his achievement is the result of his 18 years of learning, regular practise, teachings of Ustads and of course blessings of his Satguruji. He is proud to have treasure of dhrupad, dhamar, khyaal, partaal, guldasta,sawa gyarah, sawa chodah, paune pandrah,thumri, taraana and chaturang. He is also blessed to learn “Vichitra Veena” from Pt Gopal Krishna and education of shehnai from world famous “Shehnai Vadadak” Ustad Bismillah Khan and sitar from “Sitar Vadak” Ustad Vilayat Khan.
When he won the first place in All India Radio Competition. Thereafter, in the company of great musicians, the group of Bhai Baljit Singh, Bhai Gurmeet Singh and Master Fateh Singh Namdhari undertook many tours to foreign lands such as England, Africa, Thailand, Tanzania, America, Scotland and Canada.
He gave a good account of their art. In 1998 they were awarded by Bhai Mardana Award in Ludhiana. In 2004 they were pleasured by Shiromany Ragi Award by Punjabi Bhasha Vibhag, Punjab. In 2005 again they were announced as Shiromany Ragi Award by Delhi Govt. By Sri Satguru's grace and their own perseverance, Baljit Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Fateh Singh's art is sure to win them great laurels in future.
