The Kosa silk is produced in the villages of Chhattigarh and is slowly getting popular across India and abroad.
National Award Winner Sukhram Dewangan from Chhattigarh belongs to a weaver’s family where the whole family is involved in the process of weaving.
Since last more than 4 decades Sukhram is practicing this art of weaving and has given training to number of artisans engaged in handcrafted kosa silk sarees.
Sukhram has a manufacturing unit named Yogita Weaves where skilled and professional artisan make handcrafted Kosa Silk sarees,Sambalpuri, Chanderi and Cotton Sarees. Bagh print, Tribal print,Daboo print ,stoles, duppatta and dress material is also produced. It is heartening to see how Chhattisgarhi weaver Sukhram Dewangan is constantly experimenting.
