TRADITIONAL ARTIST OF PHAD (FOLK) PAINTING SHILP GURU (NATIONAL AWARD WINNER)
Profile of Artist:
As a kid Pradip was good in sketching and painting. When he was eleven, he painted a wall painting for a marriage ceremony in Bikaner. After completing his graduation in Commerce he took admission in Rajasthan School Of Arts, though his family did not accepted his decision of entering into Fine Arts. The superior quality of his work made him the sole artist responsible for Phad paintings.
Later Pradip Mukherjee went to Bhilwara to learn the nuances of the art-form from Shree Lal Joshi. His master creations include a series of 108 Phad paintings on Ramcharitmanas.
His paintings on Durga saptashati are displayed at City Palace, Udaipur. Pradeep Mukherjee, India’s first Miniature Phad Artist and recipient of the prestigious Shilp Guru Award, is known to do the unconventional and brilliant.
